There’s nothing to drill, screw, or anchor overhead — the frame does all the work, so the canopy goes up (and comes down) without touching the room itself.
Our original Swiss Shield canopy relies on ceiling straps, which only works if there’s something solid enough up there to anchor into, at a height that suits the bed. This version sidesteps that altogether. Because it’s free-standing, it’ll go into more or less any bedroom regardless of ceiling type, works just as well in a rented flat where you can’t drill into anything, and can be taken apart and rebuilt if you move house or just want to rearrange the room.
Swiss Shield® fabrics are woven in Switzerland purpose-built for the bedroom, marketed as environmental stress management textiles rather than generic shielding cloth. Each fabric holds OEKO-TEX® certification and has been independently lab-tested for its electromagnetic shielding performance — so the numbers behind the product are verified, not just claimed. It’s this combination of tested performance and premium construction that puts Swiss Shield at the top end of the market.
The canopy comes in either Swiss Shield Naturell or Swiss Shield Ultima. Both are cotton-based, PES-coated fabrics made in Switzerland with essentially the same look and feel — you’d be hard pressed to spot the difference by eye. What separates them is weave density: Ultima is woven tighter, which translates into stronger shielding. Neither fabric needs earthing to work, unlike some shielding materials on the market.
Both fabrics are rated across the frequencies used by everyday wireless kit — 4G, 5G, WiFi and 5G WiFi among them — with shielding strongest at lower frequencies and gradually weaker as frequency climbs. At 900MHz (radio), Naturell blocks around 37dB against Ultima’s 41dB. At 1800MHz (4G/5G mobile), that’s 35dB versus 38dB. At 2450MHz (3G/4G and WiFi), 34dB versus 36dB. And at 5800MHz (5G WiFi), the two fabrics converge to 27dB versus 28dB. Ultima leads throughout, though the gap narrows as the frequency rises.
Made to fit Twin, Full, Queen, King and California King beds, with a steel frame sized to match each mattress. Whichever size you choose, the frame stands at a standard 200cm (78.7in).
Do I need to drill into my ceiling for this one? No. Everything is supported by the steel frame, so there’s no ceiling fixing involved at all.
Which fabric should I pick? They’re built the same way and look nearly identical, so it comes down to shielding strength — Ultima performs slightly better than Naturell across the board.
Can I still get in and out easily at night? Yes — three sides of the canopy stay open, with only the headboard side closed off.
How tall is the frame? 200cm (78.7in), regardless of which bed size you order.
